Kansas HCBS

HCBS In-Home Services

In-Home Services are provided depending on your situation. Whether it is Frail elderly, Physical Disability, or a Traumatic Brain Injury is covered under Kansas Medicaid/KanCare.

Each injury will depend on the kinds of services you are eligible for.

The Physical Disability (PD) waiver serves individuals 16 to 64 years of age who meet the criteria for nursing facility placement due to their physical disability, who are determined disabled by social security standards, and who are Medicaid eligible.

The Frail Elderly (FE) waiver provides Kansas seniors an alternative to nursing home care. Services include personal care, household tasks, and health services. The program promotes independence within the community and helps to offer residency in the most integrated environment.

Brain injuries diagnosed as being a chromosomal or congenital condition do not qualify for the BI waiver. If a brain injury is obtained prior to the age of 22, the individual may be considered developmentally disabled and may be referred to the Community Developmental Disability Organizations (CDDOs) prior to BI screening. CDDOs are required to assess all persons with developmental disabilities for the I/DD Program.
